Gifted & Talented Program

Here at Denver Discovery School, advanced learners at DDS have access to many extension opportunities inside and outside of the classroom.

Karen Wagner supports DDS students and staff with a compilation of push in support in the general education classroom, curriculum compacting, enrichment opportunities, and extension projects. She supports all core teachers to ensure each and every staff member has the capacity to serve our varying levels of students through best practices in differentiation.

DDS GT Vision

Denver Discovery School values every child’s individualized intellectual and social strengths through rigorous, purposeful and relevant learning and leadership opportunities. We foster perseverance and intellectual curiosity so that our students are prepared to meet 21st century academic and personal demands. Teachers meet the needs of gifted (GT) and Talent Pool students through differentiated instructional strategies, with support from the GT teacher. Enrichment activities are designed around students’ area(s) of strength to develop higher order thinking skills and creativity. Assessment data is reviewed throughout the year to equitably identify GT and Talent Pool students. All students develop their social and emotional skills through activities in their advisory groups, as well as through positive behavior supports for students who demonstrate DDS’s Core Values: Discovery, Compassion, Gratitude, Collaboration, Perseverance, and Leadership. Students have the opportunity to extend their learning in a variety of after school clubs and athletic activities.
