We want to call out a few sections that have been updated from previous handbooks.  Some of these sections are new and some have been called out to make sure that the DDS community is all on the same page.  As you peruse the handbook with your student, please make sure that you review some of the following sections:

To understand our rationale for our cell phone policy visit: Away For The Day

While we understand the challenge of scheduling and unexpected illnesses, it is incredibly important that we have your children on time here every day, all day. When possible, please schedule any doctors’ appointments after school is finished for the day. A recent study by the Baltimore Education Research Consortium found that poor attendance in the first month of school can predict chronic absence for the entire year. We need your children here every day in order to meet our goals around strong student engagement and high academic growth.

Please be sure to provide notes for doctors visits and illnesses so we can excuse those absences. Need to fax it? The number is 720-424-4834.

Early Pickup

If you need to pick up your student before the end of the day, please do so before 2:30pm. We are not able to release students from class during the last 15 minutes of the day. Parents need to come into the school office to sign their student out if they need to pick up during the school day.

Attendance Policy

As a middle school in Denver Public Schools, we follow DPS’s Attendance Policy.
